Alicia Parsons is a MD/MPH student from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, interning at LACHC for her MPH capstone project between her 3^rd and 4^th years of medical school. Alicia explored many options for her project, but found LACHC an ideal site because of the patient population and her desire to learn better how to integrate her faith into her future work as a physician.

Alicia's project is entitled, Technology-Driven Quality Improvement in Homeless/Public Housing Healthcare. She is working with Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lisa Abdishoo; Nursing Director, Sherieda Stewart; and Information Technology Manager, Joe Mendez, to use LACHC's newly-implemented Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system as a quality improvement tool. The team hopes to design a system that will generate both provider-specific and statistically significant information on health and health delivery measures that will allow the LACHC to pinpoint areas for improvement, follow their progress and result in continuous improvement of quality of care.

After medical school Alicia hopes to match into a family medicine residency, focusing on care for poor and underserved patients to best prepare for future clinical and public health work within these communities in the United States and abroad.
